Chocolate Chip Coffee Cake

  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. sour cream
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
    Topping:
  • 1 c. semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon

Preparation:

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, sour cream and vanilla. Mix well. Combine the flour, baking powder and soda. Add to creamed mixture. Batter will be thick. Spread half of the batter into a greased 13" x 9" x 2" baking pan. Topping: Combine chocolate chips, sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle half over batter. Repeat layers. Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Yield: 12-16 servings.
