Apple Bread

  • 1 c. butter, softened
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 c. buttermilk
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 c. apples, chopped
    Topping:
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 c. butter, softened

Preparation:

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, then add eggs, blending well. Stir in flour and salt. Dissolve baking soda in buttermilk, then add to batter. Stir in vanilla and apples. Spoon into well-greased bread pans. Sprinkle with topping and bake at 325° for 1 hour.
