Cheeseburger Salad

  • 4 sesame seed hamburger bun tops
  • 3/4 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 c. finely diced dill pickles
  • 3/4 c. ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp. mustard
  • 8 c. thinly-sliced romaine lettuce
  • 1 c. shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 plum tomatoes
  • 1 onion


Dice bun tops into crouton-size pieces. Toast lightly in 425° oven. Brown beef, drain, and add 1/2 onion finely diced, ketchup, mustard and chopped pickles. To serve, arrange lettuce on large serving platter. Spoon beef mixture over lettuce. Top with cheese, chopped tomato and remaining onion cut into rings. Arrange bun croutons around edge of platter. Serve immediately.
