Caramel Apple Dumplings

  • Sauce:
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
    Dumplings:
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 Tbsp. melted butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup peeled and diced apples

Preparation:

Mix sauce ingredients in a skillet and bring to a boil. Dumplings: Combine dumpling ingredients then drop by spoonfuls into hot sauce. Cook until done; dumplings should look browned, kind of like a donut. Remove dumplings to platter and pour remaining sauce over top. Serve warm.
